Wedding Shoes - Trends For 2010

Brides seem to pay all the attention to their wedding dress and none on the feet that carry them down the aisle. If you're going to spend thousands of dollars on a dress that you'll never wear again, why leave out the wedding shoes from your shopping list?

You may say that wedding shoes have the unfortunate fate of being hidden beneath the gown. But then, the purpose of a nice pair of shoes is much more than making them visible (although the enterprising bride will definitely find ways to flaunt her shoes from underneath the gown) for everyone - they can add to the whole ensenble, make you (and your feet) feel awesome, and just add the 'finishing' touch to your dress.

Just as the fashion for dresses keeps changing every season,  wedding shoes also go through the fashion change cycle. You should always go for shoes that complement the style of the dress. If your dress is straight from 2009 spring, then don't buy shoes that would've looked good in 2004.

The current trend in 2010 is for wedding gowns that just look a bit retro and 'dated' (in a good way). Therefore, get shoes that complement this look and feel like they were just a few decades old. This 'yesteryears' look is great on the aisle and will definitely make a few heads turn.

Keeping in line with this retro look, the shoes in 2010 are decidely more feminine than their counterparts from 2009 and earlier. Get shoes with more delicate accents, feminine traces, etc.

Shoes with a variety of embellishments and adornments are all the rage this year. Designers are stopping short of nothing when it comes to shoes, adding everything from artificial stones to lace on them. Adornments such as hearts, butteflies, etc. are also much in vogue. Feathers are another adornment this season that will definitely set you apart and make all the girls in the ceremony jealous.

Don't be one of those brides who spends thousands of dollars on her dress but is miserly about her shoes. They may not be seen as much as the gown, but they are a part of the whole ensemble and your dress would be definitely robbed of its charm without a nice pair of shoes complementing it.
